QUICKSBURG - It was a wet ‘n’ wild finish for ShenValley No. 1 Buffalo Gap on Friday but the Bison got their eighth straight victory of the season. The Bison crushed Stonewall Jackson 34-0.

SHENANDOAH - Wilson Memorial kept its postseason playoff hopes alive, defeating Page County 21-8 Friday night in Shenandoah District action.

In late prep volleyball action on Tuesday, the Green Hornets lost their final Shenandoah District match to the Bulldogs 23-25, 25-16, 25-27, 24-26 in Luray.

STUARTS DRAFT- It doesn’t take much for Tabitha Bowman to get angry.  Well, maybe just a 12-9 Rockbridge lead in Game 3.

FISHERSVILLE They weren’t supposed to win the Shenandoah District.  No, really, they weren’t supposed to win. Not really impossible, but no respectable betting man would have put money on it.

FISHERSVILLE - It was all about teamwork Monday as Wilson Memorial beat Stonewall Jackson 25-15, 20-25, 25-18, 25-17 clinching the Shenandoah district title.

GREENVILLE- After a no-call on pass interference against Stonewall Jackson in the fourth quarter, Riverheads’ quarterback Jacob Hutchinson decided on the deep strike on 3rd and 18.

FORT DEFIANCE - After starting the season with seven losses, Fort Defiance knocked the goose egg off its win column Friday.

All it took was a little push.  One little push to get Fort Defiance past a hungry Waynesboro volleyball team in Game 4 on Tuesday.

Losing the first two games against Fort Defiance on Sept. 20 was a tough pill to swallow for the Stuarts Draft volleyball team. It was the first time the Cougars had ever been that far in the gutter in a Southern Valley district match.

In volleyball action on Thursday, Riverheads lost 17-25, 25-21, 19-25, 12-25 to Stonewall Jackson in a Shenandoah District match in Quicksburg.

FISHERSVILLE - Forget the whole “Superman” thing and the not-so-easy-listening music that sparks the Wilson Memorial volleyball team.

Aja Linton may be only 5-foot-2 inches tall but don’t let those little feet and delicate hands and arms fool you when she takes away a kill from the opposing team on the back row.

It’s a letter, not a form letter, written on Waynesboro High School letterhead. Much like all the positive letters a sports department gets (we call them “atta-boys” or “atta-girls”) it’s either hung in the cubicle or stowed away in a “happy place” for us to look at every now and again when we’re feeling blue.

Imagine a typical high school kicker.  A soccer player in football gear that just wanted to keep busy in the fall and usually is the butt of most people’s jokes.
