Fishburne releases post-grad schedule

The Fishburne Military School post-graduate basketball team will play seven games in Waynesboro in its inaugural season that begins on Oct. 17.

The Caissons released the team’s schedule on Thursday. Fishburne’s season will wrap up with the National Prep Tournament on Feb. 6 and the Hargrave Piedmont Invitational on Feb. 26.

Fishburne coach Edward Huckaby said this season’s schedule would be a good test for the new program.

“I think it is a terrific schedule,” he said. “We try to play a very strong schedule against other post-grad programs and some of the strong JC programs.”

During the regular season, the Caisson’s will play mostly in Virginia, but will travel to Southern Tech in Charlotte, N.C. on Nov. 12, Catonsville Community College in Baltimore on Nov. 18 and Navy on Dec. 13. The Caissons will play Navy’s JV team. Fishburne will also play a home-and-home against the Virginia Military Institute’s JV team on Jan. 23 and Feb. 3.

The inaugural home opener is slated for Nov. 14 against Fork Union, with a start time of 1 p.m.

“I really wanted to play more away games this year … . I chose that option. I felt this team is strong enough to handle road games,” Hukaby said.
