“This has been my best school year ever. This season, by far has been the best season that we’ve had,” says Wilson’s Noël Bartley.

Noël Bartley’s grit and ability to dish out points faster then she can say her two favorite words: “It rocks,” has made her unlikable to opposing teams but lovable off the court by her team.
She glows and radiates with an infectious enthusiasm about her role within the semifinal-bound Hornets.
“This has been my best school year ever,” Bartley said. Her eyes danced as she expressed the ride she has been on this season. “This season, by far has been the best season that we’ve had.”
Bartley has made her mark this season. During the Region B finals against Strasburg, Bartley was called upon. The Rams could not get past her.
She had a team-high 15 digs and and kept the Rams’ defense off balance by zeroing in on their weak spots.
The junior also can adapt.
In the Region B semifinals, Wilson changed its starting rotation. Bartley started at service instead of senior Christine Coffield. It was another victory and a vote of confidence.
“All our players are the best players and the best people ever,” Bartley pointed out.
When Bartley speaks, she animates by using hand gestures that accentuate her upbeat personality. This has also been demonstrated on the court.
After Saturday’s contest against the Rams, Coffield said that Bartley “was hyped and got up on everything.”
Senior players like Coffield have played a key part in Bartley’s success.
Bartley is one of three juniors that have been surrounded by seven seniors. She is also the only junior to start for the Green Hornets.
“I think for them to be with these seniors at this point [in] time right now is very good for them,” said Hornets coach Kim Claytor. “The maturity level of Noël has been phenomenal. She has stepped up her game up so much in this last second half of our season. It’s unbelievable.”
Claytor is already looking forward in seeing Bartley’s growth beyond this year.
“I can’t wait to see her as a senior next year and what she can do when we get to [Group AA],” Claytor said.
Bartley just wants to savor this season.
“I feel that this is my senior season,” Bartley said. “All my best friends will be leaving me. That stinks. This was my best year and season.”
