TNV FIRST SCORE: Lee boys tennis downs Broadway 5-4

The R.E. Lee boys tennis team split the singles with visiting Broadway, then took two of three in doubles to secure a 5-4 win in its eighth match of the season.

Lee’s Will Sowers and Wilson White lost 8-2 and 8-3 respectively at the top of the ladder and Leeman Jan Haueupke lost a gritty 9-7 battle with Bryce Whetzel in the No. 3 slot. That’s when things turned around for Lee with Michael Smiley, James Copeland and Ricky Firebaugh evening things up before the doubles took the court.

Smiley teamed with Copeland to continue their winning ways and Christian Anderson and Raj Gandhi scored a 8-1 win the final doubles match to secure the victory for Lee.

The Leemen are now 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the Southern Valley.
