Southern Valley’s tennis finals set

Rockbridge’s Dominik Lehmann, Stuarts Draft’s Scott Nelson, R.E. Lee’s Rachel Obenschain and Draft’s Jessica Miller all advanced to the Southern Valley District tennis championship rounds Friday at Fort Defiance.
Joining the foursome on the doubles’ side at today’s championship round (11 a.m. at Fort Defiance) are Lee’s Thomas Bell and Will Sowers (6-4, 6-1 winners over Fort’s Graham Hoffman and Jordan Herring), Draft’s Scott Nelson and Brent Floyd (6-4, 7-6 winners over Rockbridge’s Lehmann and Shep McCallister) on the boys’ side. For the girls, the Waynesboro tandem of Shawnte Woodson and Kiawna Berry defeated Fort’s Paige Miller and Andrea Seese to advance to today’s finals where they’ll face Rockbridge’s Carolyn Higgings and Hannah Edwards (6-1, 7-5 winners over Lee’s Obenschain and Mariah Jenkins.
