PREP SOFTBALL: Tribe wins another district crown

In Lexington, it only took five innings, but the Fort Defiance softball team has its third straight district crown.

Using a trifecta of arms from the circle — Jessica Hogle, Payton Hill and Nicole Heinrich — the Indians got a home run from Tiffany Lockridge and a 3-for-4 day from Lindsey Shifflett en route to a 16-1 win over the Wildcats.

The Wildcats could only muster one hit for the game while the Indians pounded out five hits and scored five runs in the first inning alone. The Indians would add six more in the second, and five more in the fourth and fifth innings to close it out.

The win gives the Indians a Region III berth.
