FORT DEFIANCE — Fort Defiance and Stuarts Draft met Thursday in the Shenandoah District Championship. The Indians, who had already beaten the Cougars twice this season, were set on keeping a goose egg in the L-column. After seven hard fought innings in the blinding sun the Indians met their goal with a 4-2 win.

Pitcher Sam McLawhorn dominated in the circle, pitching a one-hitter while the defense twirled a gem in the field to help Riverheads take down Wilson Memorial 2-1 Tuesday night to reach the Shenandoah District title game.

In Stuarts Draft, Lauren Campbell fanned five Wildcats and Ariel Christ drove home three RBI as the Cougars beat Rockbridge, 6-1, to advance to the Southern Valley District softball championship. They’ll meet Fort Defiance on Thursday.

TNV FIRST SCORE: Fort softball hammers Waynesboro 16-1
Starter Jessica Hogle struck out six Little Giants and drove in two runs in a first inning that saw the Indians bat around the order, en route to 16-1 Fort Defiance win over the Waynesboro. With the Southern Valley semifinal win the Indians move to Thursday’s championship game against the winner of the Stuarts Draft-Rockbridge semi.
