Waynesboro never quit on Friday night, and played to the final whistle giving Harrisonburg all they had but fell 28-6.

The Little Giants started the game off slow as the Streaks were able to push the ball down field with Alex Owah. The Streaks put up the first points of the night with an Owah run from one-yard out.

Waynesboro went four-and-out and was forced to give the ball back to the Streaks.

The Little Giants’ defense stepped up to stop the Streaks’ offense. On third down senior Jacob Lipscomb sacked Blue Streaks quarterback Jake Johnson to set up a long fourth down.

“I did everything I could tonight and I tried to give my all on every play,” said Lipscomb. “ Coach Isaacs has taught me a lot that is going to help me down the road.”

The Little Giants were unable to get anything going offensively in the first half as the Streaks added another touchdown before the half on another Owah run.

The Little Giants seniors knew it would be the last chance they would ever have to step on a football field.

“This is probably the last chance I am ever going to get to play football,” senior Stephen Brown said. “I love all these guys out here and I’m going to be back next year to cheer them on.

The Streaks added two more touchdowns late as they took a 28-0 lead.

The Little Giants had one final drive to put up some points on the board. With big runs late by senior Terrell Thompson, who pushed and dragged defenders with him as he dove into the end zone for a touchdown.

“My team helped me out all night,” Thompson said. “ I have had the time of my life this year our record doesn’t mean a thing about how this team played.”

The Little Giants dropped the contest 28-6 to end the year with a 2-8 record but Coach Steve Isaacs said the team’s record did not reflect how hard this team played.

“The last two weeks there has not been a harder playing team in the Southern Valley district than Waynesboro. That says a hell about the character of our team,” Isaacs said. “Waynesboro football is turning the corner. We have a lot of sophomores that played this year that will be back. People are going to hear about us before it’s over.”

Thompson and Brown both agreed that this team was better than there record said.

“Even though we didn’t have a good season that doesn’t mean anything. Everyone on this team played hard and we never once gave up,” Brown said.
