The Leemen’s win Friday night over Fort Defiance showed not only on the scoreboard, but also in the stat book.
Senior Quarterback Dae’ Quan Scott took it as a personal challenge to put this football team on his shoulders.
“I think it’s my team I want them to jump on my back,” Scott said.
The Fort defense stopped Scott early in the first half, but Scott found a way to still reach the end zone on a 22-yard TD run.
Scott was frustrated with the way he played in the first half.
“I was getting a little frustrated I had to wipe my mind clear,” Scott said.
Scott came out in the second half with a determination to score. With Fort gaining momentum from a touchdown on the previous drive Scott took it upon himself to start leading his football team.
Scott flew down the sideline for 37-yard touchdown run destroying any momentum Fort Defiance had. Scott added another touchdown in the third quarter this time a 79-yard run.
Scott’s night wasn’t through. In the fourth he added an 11-yard touchdown run that put the game on ice.
“Dae’ Quan is what he is and were going to go as far as he takes us,” Coach Tibbs said.
Scott had a night to remember with four touchdowns, three of which came in the second half in clutch situations.
“This is my team,” Scott said.
