PREP ROUNDUP: Fishburne gets needed victory
In Waynesboro, the Fishburne basketball team picked up a needed confidence boost on Tuesday night, slipping by Hargrave 54-52 in VIC action.
Glen Franklin scored 23 points to lead the Caissons but Chet Berry’s work from the foul line sealed the win. Berry was 7-for-8 from the charity stripe down the stretch, keeping Hargrave at a distance. Berry finished the night with 16 points.
The Caissons (5-4, 1-1 VIC) return to action Thursday on the road at Randolph Macon.

Boys basketball

In Greenville, the Panthers held on to their perfect record Thursday, defeating the Gladiators.
Riverheads’ Chris Nelson led his team with 12 points while Adam Ritter scored 10. Page’s Dakota Wolf and Allen Cloude each scored 18 points. Tyler Jenkins pitched in another 12.
In JV action, the Gladiators won 46-41 with Kyle Wilson scoring 13 points.
Girls hoops
n Buffalo Gap 42, Luray 25
In Luray, after starting the season in a slump, the Bison are finally back over .500.
Gap’s Holly Morgan scored 13 points to lead the Bison to their fourth district win.
The win keeps Gap tied with Riverheads for first place in the Shenandoah District.

* Kate Collins 35, Parry McCluer 23
In Waynesboro, Tajah Miller, scored 10 points to lead Kate Collins to a win Monday.
Briana Moore added another nine points and Julia Lucas’ six points rounded out the leading scorers.
Boys hoops
* Kate Collins 36, Parry McCluer 27
In Waynesboro, Zach Allen and Collins Banks each scored eight points Monday to lead Kate Collins over Parry McCluer.
