HARRISONBURG – Stonewall Jackson took down the Buffalo Gap girls basketball team twice in the regular season but Stonewall couldn’t stop the Bison on Friday in the Shenandoah District tournament as Gap rolled over Stonewall 51-30 at Eastern Mennonite University.

STUARTS DRAFT – A patient offensive plan of attack took Robert E. Lee to a 55-44 win over Fort Defiance on Friday in the Southern Valley District tournament championship game.

HARRISONBURG — Unstoppable perimeter shooting took Riverheads to a 66-51 win over Wilson Memorial on Thursday in the Shenandoah District semifinals.

HARRISONBURG – The Bison stampede rolled Thursday night as regular season Shenandoah District champion Buffalo Gap posted a decisive 71-40 victory over No. 4 Page County in the semifinals of the Shenandoah District tournament at Eastern Mennonite University.

HARRISONBURG—Riverheads got 21 points from Cody Montgomery to upset Wilson Memorial 65-51 in the Shenandoah District semifinals.

HARRISONBURG — Buffalo Gap pulled away in a hurry to start the night and competed with themselves the rest of the way for the 46-22 win Wednesday night in the Shenandoah District tournament semifinals.

FORT DEFIANCE — Patience on offense combined with defensive pressure took Stuarts Draft to a 38-33 win over Fort Defiance in the Southern Valley District semifinals Wednesday night.

HARRISONBURG — A dismal first half Wednesday in which Riverheads was only able to muster eight points after having a huge offensive explosion in Monday night’s opening round of the Shenandoah District tournament, handed the Gladiators a 61-39 loss to Stonewall Jackson in the semifinals.

GREENVILLE — With starters Cutter Chisnell and Adam Ritter nursing injuries, Riverheads coach John Corbett had to patch a starting lineup together for Tuesday’s Shenandoah District boys basketball tournament game with Stonewall Jackson.

STAUNTON – Bring on the heat — that’s what the Robert E. Lee girls basketball team did as the No. 1 team in the Southern Valley scorched No. 4 Rockbridge in a 64-37 win during the semifinals Tuesday night in Staunton.

STUARTS DRAFT — Fort Defiance’s spot in the Region III, Division 3 tournament is locked.

STAUNTON — After an offensive struggle in the first half, Robert E. Lee put together a strong second to knock off the visiting Rockbridge Wildcats 56-38 on Tuesday night in the first round of the Southern Valley District Tournament.

GREENVILLE — What a time to hit a stride. Riverheads scored a season-high 64 points en route to a 17 point win, 64-47 over Page County Monday night.

FISHERSVILLE — Luray hit shots when they needed to, and a bank shot off the glass with nine seconds left gave the Bulldogs the lead and the 56-53 victory over Wilson Memorial in the first round of the Shenandoah District tournament.

Friday night was the end for some teams in the Southern Valley District.

The Wilson Memorial girls basketball team picked up a win aginst one of its biggest rivals on Thursday night, knocking of Riverheads 66-52. The Buffalo Gap boys basketball team also won its game 82-66 over Page County.

Waynesboro kept it close in the first half, but a flurry of defensive stops to start the second half had Robert E. Lee running away with the 62-37 victory Wednesday night.

The win locks up the regular-season Southern Valley District title for the Leemen, and it was thanks to a balanced scoring effort.

STUARTS DRAFT — The No. 1 girls basketball team in the Southern Valley defeated Stuarts Draft 59-45. Lee played like it has all season using its speed, agility and pressure.

After falling behind 22-8 in the first quarter, Waynesboro picked up the pace but couldn’t overcome Turner Ashby in non-district action Tuesday.

In Quicksburg, the Stonewall Jackson girls basketball team finished a regular-season sweep against Buffalo Gap on Tuesday night, defeating the defending Group A, Division 1 champions 42-40.

STAUNTON — In a battle of the top two teams in the Southern Valley District, the game came down to several wires, just as it should have, as Robert E. Lee held on to beat Stuarts Draft in double overtime 59-52 Tuesday night.

FISHERSVILLE – Wilson Memorial’s trap defense and patient shooting conquered Page County in a 57-41 Shenandoah win on Tuesday.

FORT DEFIANCE — On Monday night, Fort Defiance’s scrappiness got the better of Turner Ashby as the Indians held on late for a 55-48 victory in non-district action.

STAUNTON — Everyone on the Robert E. Lee roster scored Friday night as the Leemen doubled up visiting Fort Defiance 90-45 in a Southern Valley District showdown.

FISHERSVILLE — The Stonewall Jackson girls basketball team reins in first place in the Shenandoah District.

STUARTS DRAFT — Stuarts Draft has one more shot to become No. 1 in the Southern Valley District now, but it didn’t come easy.

FORT DEFIANCE — Second place in the Southern Valley, Fort Defiance could not take advantage of a match-up against first-place Lee High, falling two-and-a-half games back of the lead in the Southern Valley with the 52-38 loss Friday night.

FISHERSVILLE — Wilson Memorial needed a win to stay in the thick of the Shenandoah District boy’s basketball race.
