PREP ROUNDUP: Riverheads baseball still alive
The Riverheads baseball team kept its shot at the Shenandoah District title alive on Monday, taking advantage of a costly Stonewall Jackson error in the fourth inning to pick up a 5-1 win.
With the score tied 1-1 and the bases loaded with one out, Stonewall tried to turn two on an Adam Ritter ground ball, but the throw sailed wide, allowing three runs to score.
The Gladiators’ Miles Wade pitched seven innings and struck out 10 while walking three.
Riverheads (12-4, 6-3 Shenandoah) is in a four-way tie for first in the Shenandoah District with Wilson, Luray and Buffalo Gap. The Gladiators will take on the Bison today. The winner is guaranteed at least part of the title.

In Fishersville, Josh Miller and Grant Davis each scored two goals to lead the Green Hornets to a win over Buffalo Gap.
Wilson (11-1-2, 7-1-1 Shenandoah) will travel to Luray tonight for its season finale.
* Fort Defiance 4, Rockbridge 0
In Fort Defiance, the Indians forced a one-game playoff with Waynesboro on Monday afternoon, picking up a 4-0 shutout against Rockbridge.
The Indians needed only one win to force the playoff with the Little Giants and got it after Chris Anhold, James Robbie, Michael Bugas and Scott Fitzgerald scored. The Indians outshot the Wildcats 19-7.
The playoff game will be played on a neutral field later this week. A date and time has not been announced.
