PREP ROUNDUP: Riverheads takes down Alleghany

In Alleghany, the Riverheads boys basketball team slipped Alleghany on Tuesday night, picking up a 57-51 non-district win.

The Gladiators’ Cody Montgomery led the winning effort with 20 points. Adam Ritter added 10 more for the Red Pride. Lucas Kirby led Alleghany with 15 points

The Riverheads JV team lost its game 52-29 with Hunter Shomo scoring 10 points.

Riverheads (4-6, 0-0 Shenandoah) will be back in action on Friday at Stonewall for its Shenandoah District opener.

Girls Basketball

* Riverheads 48, Alleghany 39

In Greenville, Kristen Moody led the Gladiators with 16 points in the non-district contest against Alleghany.

Brittany Dotson chipped in eight points for Riverheads.

The Red Pride JV team won its game 29-20 against Alleghany.

Riverheads (4-7, 0-0 Shenandoah) will host Stonewall on Friday.

Boys Basketball

* Stuarts Draft 49, Turner Ashby 45 OT

In Stuarts Draft, Jeremy Fitzgerald and Jordan Thacker each scored 14 points for the Cougars in an overtime win against the Knights.

Coty Randolph chipped in 10 points for Draft.

The Cougars’ JV team won its contest 40-30 over TA and was led by Garret Wiseman.

The Cougars (7-5, 1-0 Southern Valley) will travel to Waynesboro on Friday.
