GROUP A GOLF: R’heads’ Humphries takes 10th at Group A
MIDLOTHIAN – In his first experience in the Group A state golf tournament, Riverheads freshman Luke Humphries exceeded many expectations by shooting the best score of the Region B golfers, finishing with a 22-over par 166 after an 84 in the second round of the two-day tournament at Independence Golf Club.

W’boro’s future looks bright
The future of Waynesboro High School golf grew continuously brighter Monday as freshman Brennan Lloyd made his way around the Winton Country Club during the Regional tournament. Despite the fact that his round of 86 was not good enough to move him onto the Group AA tournament, the character that was forged and the lessons that were learned will go a long way in making him and his team more successful.
Price makes Group AA tournament
AMHERST — Robert E. Lee’s Tommy Price will be the lone Southern Valley representative at next week’s Group AA golf tournament at Williamsburg National Golf Club. The senior shot a seven-over 78 at the Region III tournament at Winton Country Club on Monday, earning him the final qualifying spot on a day that saw the Lee team’s season end.

BASYE — Riverheads’ freshman Luke Humphries had one bad hole at the Region B Golf Tournament on Monday. But a triple bogey at the No. 12 hole at Bryce Resort wasn’t enough to deter the talented Gladiator golfer.

HARRISONBURG — While Stonewall Jackson had already punched their ticket to Monday’s Region B Tournament by virtue of winning the Shenandoah District regular season title, the second seed from the district was very much up in the air as the six teams teed off Monday in blustery conditions at Heritage Oaks Golf Club.

PREP GOLF: Giants win Augusta County Shootout
In Staunton, the Waynesboro golf team won the Augusta County Shootout on Thursday night at Staunton Country Club, shooting a 162 as a team. Wilson (163) finished second followed by R.E. Lee (168), Fort Defiance (170), Riverheads (190), Stuarts Draft (205) and Buffalo Gap (212).
