GENERALS: The losing streak is over

The Waynesboro Generals’ losing streak is over.

After trailing Covington 2-0, the Generals added three runs in the sixth inning to take the lead. The Lumberjacks bat-tled back and scored two runs in the seventh to take a 4-3 lead but a huge five-run eighth inning gave the Generals the win.

The win ended the Generals’ six-game losing skid.

The victory puts the Generals a game-and-a-half behind Covington for the South Division’s No. 2 playoff seed. The Generals are also a game-and-a-half outside the final wildcard position.

Waynesboro will return to action tonight, hosting No. 1 Staunton.
