Write-in process difficult, confusing

After casting my vote Tuesday, I told a worker there was going to be a lot of confusion concerning the write-in votes. First of all, “TYPE IN” would have been a more appropriate description of what you would find upon entering the voting booth. No wonder some voters actually wrote on the screen itself, as reported in Thursday’s newspaper (“Write-ins wrangled”).

Kent can fix troubled Treasurer’s Office

In two weeks, not only will we be voting for governor and other state positions, but a little closer to home is the vote for Waynesboro city treasurer. As you have probably read in this newspaper (“Treasurer again gets failing grades,” Sept. 30), there have been quite a number of poor audit reports from the state. Lost revenue, late fees, poor accounting practices, etc., have caused chaos in the city building.

Waynesboro City Council members heard two proposals for the city library renovation and were unanimous in opinion as to which architectural procedure they preferred during a work session Wednesday.

Library expects to meet renovation goals

It’s an expansion in spirit, if not deed.

Zahir Mahmoud, executive director of the Waynesboro Public Library, told the Waynesboro City Council at its Wednesday work session that even though the library is not expanding beyond its 28,000 square foot size, it will be able to accomplish the goals it originally set in a 2006 needs assessment.
