FORT DEFIANCE — Waynesboro entered the seventh inning with its Southern Valley District championship hopes almost broken as it trailed Fort Defiance 4-2. The Little Giants’ bats were cold for most of the night, but they strung together a seven-run inning to pick up a 9-4 win and clinch the inaugural Southern Valley baseball title.

Waynesboro has a freshman that can pitch and R.E. Lee’s Rajah Jenkins is going to be special at VMI next fall. Yep, don’t look for any news on the NBA Developmental League here, because this is Augusta County’s only all-local, daily sports blog.

A month into the baseball season Stuarts Draft and Waynesboro were the last two teams in the Southern Valley that had yet to lose. On Tuesday night the two clashed at Kate Collins for sole ownership of the midseason district top-spot.
