Demonstrating the kind of dexterity one finds only in politicians and yoga masters, Gov. Timothy M. Kaine ventured Monday to Harrisonburg to administer pats, to his back principally and others’ perfunctorily. Ensuring the bipartisan nature of the ritual, Del. Steve Landes, R-Weyers Cave, joined Kaine at the event marking the grand opening of SRI International, the research and development institute and presumed provider of economic salvation to the Valley.

Leaders: SRI a long-term benefit to Valley

Gov. Timothy M. Kaine again has been compelled to slash money from his two-year, $77-billion budget, this time whacking away $1.35 billion.

It’s good to be Timothy M. Kaine these days principally because he’s not Mark Sanford. Virginia’s governor, like his counterpart in South Carolina, gets around, but Kaine, in senses platonic and political. So while South Carolina proceeds with inquiries to determine whether Sanford, the skunk, spent taxpayer cash to pursue l’amour in Argentina, Virginia Republicans have halted nosing into the possible use of state tax money to aid Kaine’s cross-country politicking as Democratic National Committee chairman. C’est la vie.
