FORT DEFIANCE – When Fort Defiance got leadoff hitters aboard they brought them in — and then some — drubbing Stuarts Draft 14-4 to win the Shenandoah Valley District tournament Thursday.

Fort Defiance’s Blake Sipe had three RBI, three doubles and scored twice on Friday night against Waynesboro — he also struck out eight to pick up the win.

FORT DEFIANCE — Stuarts Draft did what it could to create opportunities, making just enough to beat Fort Defiance 9-3 in Southern Valley District action Friday night.

FORT DEFIANCE — Fort Defiance’s Daniel Wright verbally committed to play baseball for Radford University, a Division I school in the Big South Conference.

Forget Turner Ashby and those other baseball teams up north that decided to jump ship, form their own district and give it a cool name.
Forget those days, they’re gone. Close your eyes tight and wish with all your might. They ain’t ever coming back. There’s a new heated rivalry in town that doesn’t involve Knights, male turkeys or those who blaze new trails into the Shenandoah Valley.

Fort Defiance ran out to a six-run lead but had to hold off a surging Waynesboro squad in the seventh inning to grab an 11-9 win and the Southern Valley District baseball tournament championship at the KC on Thursday.
The Indians blitzed three Waynesboro pitchers for 17 hits and needed almost all of them to keep the top seed at bay.

FORT DEFIANCE – The Fort Defiance game plan of early scoring took them to a 6-1 win over Stuarts Draft in the first round of the Southern Valley District tournament on Friday.
The Indians got on the board early in the first after a three up, three down defensive inning. Fort’s Blake Sipe smacked one to the Draft shortstop, who then let it roll into the outfield. The Indians’ Justin Chittum’s sacrifice bunt then moved Sipe to second and Michael Wade drove him in with a hard grounder up the middle.
