RICHMOND — President Barack Obama will appear in a new television advertisement for Creigh Deeds and plans to campaign with the Democratic gubernatorial candidate in Norfolk.

Deeds’ campaign said Wednesday that the 30-second spot features Obama calling on Virginia voters to get “fired up” to elect Deeds on Nov. 3. It’s the first Deeds ad that has featured the president, the first Democrat to carry Virginia in a presidential election since 1964.

Campaign officials also confirmed that the president will appear with Deeds on Tuesday at Old Dominion University, but didn’t immediately release further details.

“I need every one of you to get fired up once again so that we can go towards the future, with Creigh Deeds leading the great Commonwealth of Virginia,” Obama says in the ad.
