Status quo simply won’t fly in city Treasurer’s Office
Published: October 11, 2009
Soon, the taxpayers living in Waynesboro will go to the polls and cast their votes for a city treasurer, when deciding not to vote should be easy.
Consider this. If you hired a plumber, an electrician or an auto mechanic to repair a broken piece of equipment and you paid for the correction, you’d rightfully expect that the condition was corrected. If the situation was not corrected, would you continue to spend your money on the same individual or location? Obviously, you would not.
If we can believe the news (“Treasurer again gets failing grades,” Sept. 30), why should we continue to maintain in office a treasurer who according to state auditors continues to fail in the performance of her job? A replacement is needed. Naysayers might question, ‘How do you know a replacement would be better?’ Answer: I don’t. But the status quo is unacceptable.
