State of WHS facilities unfair to kids
Published: September 2, 2009
After reading the article regarding athletic facilities at Waynesboro High School (“In search of pride,” Aug. 28), I am appalled.
Citizens were concerned that they could not get tax funds for the Wayne Theatre. Yet, obviously, there was little or no concern about the facilities being tolerated by their young people.
We have lived in this area for 10 years. We have two granddaughters who have graduated from Waynesboro High School. Both girls were active students. They were both scorekeepers for athletes. One of them was on the tennis team. During their years of involvement, we did not hear of these conditions being tolerated by the high school athletes.
Athletics are a great influence on young men and women. We should care enough about them to keep things decent for them.
Also, imagine what visiting athletes and coaches must think about this disgusting situation.
Please get behind this problem. Do something.
