Prosecute the policymakers
Published: June 7, 2009
I fully understand concern about showing more of the despicable acts that were carried out in our name. But it seems to me that if we want to rehabilitate ourselves, we need to prosecute the people who authorized and committed torture, starting with President George W. Bush, then Vice President Dick Cheney and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.
We owe it to the innocent victims and the international community we so often claim to speak for.
Prosecuting the deciders is the only way to restore our reputation as a force for peace and democracy.
