Obama will restore dignity to presidency
Published: October 28, 2008
As a 10th generation Virginian, whose ancestors settled in the Valley more than 250 years ago, and who fought, died, toiled and labored for this great country, I write this letter afraid that we will continue to take our country down the road to ruin if we do not elect Barack Obama as president. Ask yourself, are you better off now than you were four or eight years ago? If not, elect someone who will change President Bush’s failed policies.
Obama will bring tax relief back to the middle class (yes, I consider someone who makes $250,000 rich), make sure everyone has access to health care and get us out of Iraq – turning our resources to Osama bin Laden (remember him, the mastermind of 9/11). He will bring back the market regulation that is so obviously needed because the “free market” has proven it cannot police itself. He will appoint judges who protect our freedoms and do not legislate from the bench, restore habeas corpus and bring America back as the beacon of hope and prosperity to the world stage. The working class built this country and made it great. It is time for the working class to take it back!
Obama’s opponent claims to buck his own party, yet has voted with Bush 90 percent of the time. His running mate accuses Obama of palling around with terrorists, while she publicly condoned and her husband belonged to the Alaskan Independent Party whose sole purpose is to secede from the United States and whose founder said, “I’m an Alaskan, not an American. I’ve got no use for America or her damned institutions.” Oh yeah, that sounds like “country first” to me. How stupid do they think we are?
The message that, if you are progressive, you do not love this country and that somehow their beliefs make you patriotic is sickening. Wrapping yourself in the flag does not make you patriotic. Let me tell you, my father was a Marine combat veteran of Korea and a “Blue Dog Democrat” (fiscal conservative and social liberal), and if you had told him he was not patriotic, he would have kicked your a—. Like my father, I love this country. Join me in restoring dignity, class, compassion, intelligence and middle-class values back to the presidency. Vote Barack Obama!
