Obama meeting low expectations
Published: July 31, 2009
In just a few months, President Barack Obama has already met all of the expectations I had for him during the campaign. That’s a very unfortunate thing.
Based on Obama’s short but troublesome Senate track record, my neighbors and I feared he would expand government into areas we had no business entering. Now Big Brother is building cars, selling insurance and preparing to tell us what doctors we can visit and what medical procedures they can perform.
We feared the president would find an excuse to tack on more taxes at every chance. That attack began with cigarettes and canceled tax cuts and will only get worse with interest tax surcharges and an energy policy that will raise the cost of living for everyone.
We had feared the president would spend wastefully, but we never expected him to so quickly saddle future generations with an insurmountable debt.
We feared he’d show disdain for soldiers, for Christians and for the Americans who worked the hardest to earn success. Sadly, he has delivered.
The barrage is coming fast and furious and it will keep coming until voters in every state voice their alarm in the newspapers, on the radio, on the Internet and at the ballot box.
