Marrow’s words belie ‘fiscal conservatism’

In a Sept. 26 story titled “Landes demands Marrow clarify,” I found myself in total disbelief when I read that Democratic House District 25 challenger Greg Marrow considers himself a “fiscal conservative” and “does not support tax increases.”

I attended the debate hosted last month by The News Virginian between incumbent Del. Steve Landes and Marrow, and heard with my own ears Marrow say he wants to look into raising corporate income taxes.

I also listened to Marrow refer to stimulus money from the federal government, as “free.”  Federal money is not free and the stimulus money Marrow was referring to comes from my pocket and will come from my grandchildren’s pockets.

There was nothing fiscally conservative about Marrow’s comments at the debate.  Steve Landes on the other hand has exercised true fiscal conservatism. As a business man, I can vouch that Steve Landes has maintained a positive business-friendly environment for our area throughout his tenure in the House of Delegates.

At the debate, he announced he has been endorsed by the National Federation of Independent Business which is an important endorsement to me.

I appreciate Del. Landes’ honest and time-tested values. However, Greg Marrow has already cast a huge doubt in my mind about his leadership skills after comparing what he said at the debate to what he is quoted just days later as saying.

Bridgy,
As for the stimulus money? Your tax dollars (and mine) were going to spent anyway. For you to imply that the republicans refusing the UI benefits would somehow save us tax dollars is not only ignorant but, as is your custom, a lie.  That money has now gone somewhere else because of GOP ignorance, stupidity and selfishness.

My cousins in Alabama thank you for the money!!

Bridgeforth,
You’re one he** of a liar.  How much did landes pay you to write this post? I was at that debate too and I’ll call you on it punk.  Marrow NEVER said that he wanted to look into raising corporate taxes. Look at the video, you pathetic liar.  Let me clarify, when asked by the moderator what things need to be looked at to fund the transportation issue, Marrow stated that he didn’t want to raise taxes but, every idea, no matter what party presented it, needs to be on the table.  He simply pointed out that the corporate and tobacco tax in VA are much lower than the national average.  He also said that taxes were the very end of the list.  You are just a jerk for lying.

As for Landes’s endorsement by the NFIB, give me a break!!  The NFIB ALWAYS endorses the incumbant!! Are you serious?  If Marrow wins in Nov., then they will endorse him!  You’re a joke.  BTW, have you ever wondered why the VA Teacher’s Association refused to endorse Landes EVEN THOUGH he sits on the education committee? Hmmm?

you are obviously a Landes hack.  Pathetica really.  You care less about your town than you do about the dysfunctional GOP agenda.

It’s too bad Mr. Marrow got away with making the “free” comment w/o the press mentioning it.
