Kent can fix troubled Treasurer’s Office
Published: October 21, 2009
In two weeks, not only will we be voting for governor and other state positions, but a little closer to home is the vote for Waynesboro city treasurer. As you have probably read in this newspaper (“Treasurer again gets failing grades,” Sept. 30), there have been quite a number of poor audit reports from the state. Lost revenue, late fees, poor accounting practices, etc., have caused chaos in the city building.
We have an opportunity Nov. 3 to put confidence and accountability back into the City’s Treasurers Office. I am supporting write-in candidate Terry Kent for that position and would like to ask that you consider doing the same. A Waynesboro native, Terry has had a life full of management experience. As owner of his own tax accounting business that grew to two offices, he was a stickler for details and developed the skills necessary for teaching and training others in proper accounting methods. He has successfully managed several local businesses and been awarded for various company production goals.
We are hosting a “meet-and-greet” with Terry on Oct. 27 at the Waynesboro Public Library in the downstairs meeting room. I encourage you to meet Terry and become familiar with his experience. I believe you’ll understand why he’s the most qualified person for this job. It is our duty as citizens of Waynesboro to make sure the stewardship of our hard earned tax dollars are properly accounted for, reported on time and appropriated wisely.
