Jesus Christ is reason to give thanks
Published: December 30, 2008
How is it possible that a baby boy born in an era when there was no Internet could have affected the world as no other?
First, Jesus Christ was no ordinary man. Even though he refers to himself more than 80 times as the “son of man,” (Dan. 7:13) he is also the “son of God.” “Emmanuel” is how Isaiah puts it (7:14). Matthew tells us that Emmanuel means “God with us.”
You see, he was conceived as a zygote in the womb of the Virgin Mary by a divine act of the omnipotent Holy Spirit. As God’s unique son, he had a specific mission. He came to earth to give his life’s blood as a ransom for us poor, lost, hell-bound sinners (1 Tim. 1:15).
In the midst of all this bad news we have been constantly bombarded with, I offer hope and good news.
Jesus Christ came and fulfilled all that the Father predetermined at his first advent. We await his second coming from heaven to correct this lost, hurting world in which we live.
He came. He is coming soon. Let us praise God and give thanks for His inexpressible gift (2 Cor. 8:9) the Lord Jesus Christ.
