Doug Walker was full of workable solutions

As a resident of Waynesboro for the last 6 years, I have been an enthusiastic observer of the Waynesboro City Council meetings on TV. I discovered that historically the city had suffered from being “penny-wise and pound-foolish.” For younger readers, that means being short-sighted, and in this instance, probably unwilling to pay the taxes necessary to maintain the physical integrity of the city.
What further captivated me was the interaction of the council members. I was particularly impressed with City Manager Doug Walker, who seemed to so competently research the problems facing the city while keeping the council focused and informed and inevitably reaching workable solutions.
A joy to watch. A man of his caliber will not be easily replaced.

Being a Waynesboro resident for 5 years, I would like to give praise to Doug Walker for his stunning accomplishments for this city. His determination, loyalty and focus in helping to move Waynesboro on the path to a fiscally strong and responsible city with energetic goals for a growing community are to be commended.  Shame on the newly elected “officials”, Williams and Lucente for removing one who was determined to see a positive growth in Waynesboro.  Instead we read that this decision was formed in a respectful manner.  You did not receive my vote to have you sitting in your council seats for fear of actions that you have just exhibited.  Mr. Walker will exit gracefully from his position but this scenario should never been created. Close-minded individuals always have and will continue to “freeze” a city’s best interests.
