Augusta County

The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jesse James Purcell, 19, of Grottoes, Wednesday on attempted murder and firearm charges. He and James Edward Breckenridge, 24, of Stuarts Draft, shot high-powered rifles into two Stuarts Draft homes Nov. 23. Breckenridge remained at large Monday afternoon, a week after the incident. Authorities with the Sheriff’s Office would not comment about their search for Breckenridge.

Authorities charged Jimmy Bolenbarker Jr., 25, with eight counts of grand larceny, credit card theft and forgery, breaking and entering and a firearms violation Wednesday, after he allegedly broke into several vehicles throughout the county.

Bolenbarker used one of the credit cards he stole, which allowed Augusta County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Brian Jenkins to track down the man’s photo and vehicle license plate number, authorities said. An incident in the 100-block of Kalb Circle led to a scuffle between Bolenbarker and a group of neighbors, Jenkins said, but Bolenbarker escaped and off-roaded into someone’s yard.

The property owner shot at Bolenbarker’s tires, blowing one out, and captured the license plate number, authorities said. Hours later Bolenbarker was arrested by sheriff’s deputies, Jenkins said. Bolenbaker could face additional charges, Jenkins said.

Authorities arrested Johnnie Coffey, 32, of Fishersville, Saturday, on charges he had sex with a minor.

More than $14,000 in musical instruments, money and prescription drugs were stolen Saturday from a house in the 30-block of Mount Sidney School Lane. Augusta County Sheriff’s Office deputies recovered the instruments, which were hidden on the same property where they were stolen. Authorities recovered neither the medication nor the money.

Waynesboro

Waynesboro police charged Kainain Chanse St. Onge, 18, and a 14-year-old juvenile with stealing several packs of cigarettes from Frye’s Market at North Delphine Avenue around 2 a.m. Monday.

An officer arrested the pair after seeing them walking away from the grocery store. Authorities discovered a broken door at the store. St. Onge was taken to Middle River Regional Jail in Verona. The juvenile was released to a guardian.

Authorities arrested William Edward Jarvis, 59, of Waynesboro, Sunday night on charges he broke his 61-year-old roommate’s ribs and punctured her lung in a beating.

Officers received a call from the victim, who was treated and released at Augusta Health in Fishersville, authorities said. Authorities responded to a home in the 1100 block of B Street a little before 10:30 p.m.

In July 2004 a Waynesboro Circuit Court judge sentenced Jarvis to three years in prison and 20 years of probation on unlawful wounding and firearms convictions, according to court records.

Staunton

Authorities arrested Krista Morse, 29, of Staunton, after her boyfriend Justin Madison, 25, also of Staunton, reported that Morse struck him, clawed him with her fingernails and bit him in the back of the leg. Staunton police said they responded to a home in the 100 block of East Avenue. Morse was being held Monday afternoon at Middle River Regional Jail in Verona.
