Injunction not granted against Sixth District Republican Committee chairman Fred Anderson

Circuit Court Judge Victor Ludwig refused Friday to grant an injunction against Sixth District Republican Committee chairman Fred Anderson regarding his power to unseat elected delegates to Saturday’s Sixth District Convention and unseat Augustsa County Republican chairman Kurt Michael.
Ludwig said the plaintiff’s arguments in the case implied that there were no safeguards protecting them in the Virginian Republican Party plan.
The plaintiff’s needed to prove, he said, irreparable harm to have an injunction granted, and in this case, the mechanisms are in place to prevent irreparable harm.
Despite the defeat, Michael said afterwards that the hearing was a success.
“Fred Anderson was put on notice to follow the state party plan to do the right thing in seating 59 delegates to the Sixth District Convention,” Michael said.
The Sixth District Convention is set for Saturday in Lexington at Rockbridge County High School.
Anderson said the convention’s Credentials Committee will review the delegates from Augusta County Saturday morning to see that they are properly credentialed. And, Anderson said there will be a 2 p.m. meeting to determine whtether Michael is still the Augusta County Republican chair, or whether Larry Roller is the county chair.”
