The 6th District Republican Committee will meet May 2 in Lexington to decide who is chairman of the Augusta County Republican Committee.
Both Larry Roller of Mount Sidney and incumbent Chairman Kurt Michael are claiming leadership of the committee, but 6th District Chairman Fred Anderson said the ultimate decision will be up the 6th District Committee.
“It’s an opportunity to decide which of the two is chairman,‘’ Anderson said.
The meeting will be held at the Best Western Lexington Inn on U.S. 11 at 4 p.m.
Anderson said he has communicated to both Roller and Michael about the meeting.
Roller won the initial vote 141-103 at the April 10 county mass meeting. Charging several irregularities, Michael continued the meeting and won the second vote 57-2.
Michael has said he will resign after both the 6th District and state Republican conventions next month. But he has repeatedly said he will not support Roller.
