A 77-year-old woman discovered $27,000-worth of gold coins missing Wednesday from her Verona home, police said.
The woman was planning on depositing some of the collector's coins, accumulated over several years, in the bank Wednesday, police said. When she realized they were gone, she called the Augusta County Sheriff's Department.
The woman told investigators she had last seen the coins on March 24. There were no signs of forced entry in the residence, police said.
