Waynesboro

n Police on Friday arrested a Waynesboro man who they say became combative while being led from his home.

Mark Eliot Dibenedetto, 28, pushed and kicked an officer while struggling in the hallway of his home, eventually relenting after an officer used a Taser “dry stun” on him, said Waynesboro police Sgt. Kelly Walker. Officers use a dry stun, which does not deploy prongs, when using a Taser at close range.

Dibenedetto was to be arrested that day on a misdemeanor telephone harassment charge. He now faces a charge of felony assault on a law officer.

The encounter was one of nearly a half-dozen between Dibenedetto and officers since Aug.24, most involving harassing phone calls and domestic disputes, police said. He is being held at Middle River Regional Jail in Verona.

n A Waynesboro man accused of robbing a gas station will face a grand jury.

A judge Monday certified the charges against Kenneth Marsella Reynolds, 42. He was arrested in July after an armed robbery at the Shell gas station at 301 E. Broad St.

Waynesboro police said that at 3:30 a.m. Reynolds walked inside the Shell station, also known as the Stop In, declared he had a gun and demanded money. He left with an undisclosed amount. No one was injured.

Reynolds is being held at Middle River Regional Jail in Verona on robbery and marijuana possession charges.

The armed robbery charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison.
