Waynesboro

n Joan Byrne, a resident on Misty Hill Lane, reported catching a red fox Monday morning after she set up traps for groundhogs, luring them with cat food. Byrne said she did not alert animal control officers, and released the fox the same morning. Waynesboro Animal Control Officer Dee Price said she’s still waiting to hear back from city authorities about whether the city plans to hire a trapper.

Augusta County

n Four firearms ringing in at over $1,000 in value were reported stolen from a Waynesboro home Friday. A burglar crept into a garage of a residence in the 200 block of Sandy Ridge Road Friday night, according to the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office. The owner of the guns could not supply authorities with serial numbers, police said. There are no suspects at this time.

n Two pairs of sunglasses were reported stolen from a car in the 300 block of Cranberry Drive in Stuarts Draft Friday. Authorities said they estimate the value of the Coach and Gucci eyewear at $600.
