n An Augusta County judge Thursday certified to grand jury charges against a Shenandoah man accused of stabbing another at Eastside Speedway.

Authorities say that in August, Eugene O. Hammer, 52, stabbed a 30-year-old man three times outside the speedway north of Waynesboro.

A speedway spokesman said the fight stemmed from an argument about a woman, which had started away from the speedway and carried over to the parking lot. The speedway’s three security guards were not on duty for the “test and tune” drag racing.

Hammer is charged with malicious wounding. His case is scheduled to go before the grand jury Oct. 26.
