Police have arrested a Stuarts Draft man on charges he produced pornographic images of a toddler girl and posted them to the Internet.

Scott Forrester, 39, faces 23 felony counts of production and distribution of child pornography and single counts of possession of child pornography and indecent liberties with a child. He is being held in the Middle River Regional Jail.

Police searched Forrester's neat, green-shuttered trailer on a quiet street near Stuart's Draft High School at 10:11 p.m. Monday, according to an Augusta County Sheriff's Deparment news release. Police found "numerous items of evidentiary value" and subsequently arrested Forrester.

The sheriff's department earlier in the day received a call from Bedford County authorities regarding two complaints about child pornography possibly originating in the Augusta area, according to the department news release. A joint investigation led police to Forrester's home, where the images — all involving the same young female — were allegedly produced.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the case and more charges will follow, according to the news release.

John Mitchell, 40, one of Forrester's neighbors, said he was shocked by the arrest.

"I never saw anything wrong with him," he said.

Mitchell, who has lived on the street for three years, said Forrester generally kept to himself but would occasionally come by for cookouts or to chat over a beer.

"He seemed like a straight-up guy," said Mitchell.

When Mitchell came home from work late Tuesday, he was stunned by the fleet of police cars parked outside Forrester's home.

"I thought they were busting a meth lab down the street or something," Mitchell said. "I can't believe it."
