Gunfire kills woman, 30
GROTTOES — As Virginia Lynn Ware lay in her gravel driveway, her boyfriend stood over her, lowered a gun and fired, neighbors said Tuesday.
They heard the couple’s shouting match in Blackrock Trailer Court but didn’t look until the shots.

Men plead to church break-ins
A judge Wednesday sentenced two Waynesboro men to prison for breaking in to three churches and stealing cash and electronics.
Stephen P. Bakaitis, 23, and, Joshua T. Bakaitis, 21, each pleaded guilty to 16 felonies and two misdemeanors.

Man guilty of DWI
A Waynesboro man pleaded guilty Tuesday to misdemeanor DWI for crashing his car into a shallow pond 150 feet off Route 250 on July 1.
Shaun Snead, 23, was fined $250, will drive on a restricted license for 12 months, is required to attend substance abuse meetings and received a 30-day suspended jail sentence.

Police on Monday took a report of vandalism to a vacant building at 654 N. Bath Ave., at the former site of a church.
Paint buckets stored inside were dumped over and damage was done to a heating unit and ceiling tiles in an attached trailer, police said.

Man gets 5 years for bank robbery and bomb threat
An apologetic Waynesboro man pleaded guilty Tuesday to robbing SunTrust bank March 9 in a heist built around a bomb threat.
Adhering to a plea agreement, Judge Humes J. Franklin sentenced Stuart H. Veney III, 29, to five years in prison with 15 additional years suspended.
