Waynesboro taking bids on Sherwood Ave. bridge repairs

Waynesboro Public Works Director Brian McReynolds says the city is currently in the bid and design process to repair the Sherwood Avenue bridge north of Hopeman Parkway.

The bridge was closed last week following an inspection that revealed structural deficiencies.

McReynolds said the bridge, rebuilt in the early 1990s, did not meet the load rating for Sherwood Avenue because some of the steel structural plating that sits above the beams.

He expects the bridge repairs to cost about $25,000.
