SWAC POSTCARD: Republicans get back to convention
Published: September 2, 2008
Tuesday saw the Republican National Convention back on track with President, former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson and Independent Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman speaking on behalf of “Country First.” President Bush was seen through a taped message from the White House.
Republicans certainly practiced “Country First” on Monday as they suspended an extended convention while fellow Americans were in the path of Hurricane Gustav. Tuesday promised to get back on track with the work of the party. No cancellation notices had been received by delegates Tuesday morning.
The weather in Minneapolis-St. Paul was overcast with rain moving in bringing a cold front behind it. After Sunday and Monday’s 90-degree heat, the cool is welcomed. Tuesday offered an opportunity to see the Mall of America and other local attractions in our schedule as we tried to take in some of the local flavor.
At the convention center, the Virginia delegation is sitting in front just left of the stage. Alternates are behind them on the raised floor just under the Fox News booth so Fox has our backs! Our guests are in the upper seats above the Fox News booth. We are all enjoying the excitement of a national convention and excited about the program for the rest of the week.
