Shuttle offers rides to C’ville, D.C.
A new Harrisonburg-based shuttle service promises to connect the city to Charlottesville and Washington D.C. for a fraction of taxi fare.
Green Shuttle, a new service through the 1-year-old Green Taxi company, will run three days a week to each city and Dulles International Airport.
The service could aid travelers from beyond Harrisonburg, such as residents from Waynesboro and Staunton headed to the District or Dulles, said owner Heriberto Cortes.
“Many people have problems to pay a taxi to go to Charlottesville or Washington,” he said. “The economy now is no good for them.”
Rides begin Tuesday and could be expanded if Cortes sees enough demand, he said.
The green-and-white 15-passenger vans will depart from two Harrisonburg locations: Godwin Hall at James Madison University and the Common Good Marketplace near Eastern Mennonite University at 831 Mount Clinton Pike.
