Staunton police arrested a man and a woman Monday afternoon in connection with the Sunday night stabbing death of Kevin Lewis Bryant, age 45.
Police arrested Nettie Lee Salisbury, 45, and George Battle, 50, both of the same address on the 100 block of Stafford Street, a release said. Salisbury was charged with first-degree murder and incarcerated in the Middle River Regional Jail in Verona. Battle was charged as an accessory after the fact for first-degree murder and arrested on a summons.
Police responded to a call on the 100 block of Stafford Street at 9:22 p.m. Sunday. They found Bryant in the street. The Staunton-Augusta Rescue Squad transported Bryant to Augusta Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to a news release.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are anticipated. Officer Lisa Klein of the Staunton Police Department said the incident is not gang-related.
