Attackers repeatedly struck a Waynesboro man with fists and a beer bottle around 2 a.m. Saturday morning after he left Luigi’s Pizza, 111 N. Augusta, in Staunton.
According to Staunton police, the man was struck in the back of the head, went down on one knee and was struck again, leaving cuts. A punch to his mouth knocked out two front teeth.
The victim tried to fight back and also struggled to his vehicle, which also sustained $1,000 in damage. The victim’s wallet was taken, but included only a debit card and driver’s license, no cash, said police spokeswoman Officer Lisa Klein.
