Bank robbed, ‘device’ left
A Virginia State Police bomb squad is on its way to SunTrust bank on Broad Street in Waynesboro after a robbery in which the suspect left a device in the building, indicating it was an explosive, police said.
Shortly before 3:45 today, Waynesboro police responded to the bank after three tellers triggered an alarm, police said. The suspect entered the bank, demanded an undisclosed amount of money and left a device in the building.
“Apparently, the suspect left a device of some sort inside ... and a note,“ said Sgt. Kelly Walker of the Waynesboro Police.
The suspect left on foot and it is unknown if there was a getaway car waiting for him. Police responded within a minute, authorities said.
Police are still on the scene and have created a “safety zone” around the bank, diverting traffic off Broad Street. A State Police bomb squad in on its way.

With all the police cars parked at the Waynesboro P.D. Couldnt they have driven some of them to catch this person? I’m new to this area and keep wondering why the P.D. has so many cruisers. Does anyone know?
