The Waynesboro Senior Center, sponsored by Valley Program for Aging Services, invites seniors 60 years of age and older to participate in a variety of programs to be offered in the coming week. The center, located at 325 Pine Ave. in the Jackson-Wilson building, is open 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Transportation is provided as needed by a VPAS van driver, who also helps with shopping trips and appointments to local doctors. Contributions toward expenses are accepted.

Events and menu for June 15-19

Monday: Smothered steak with onions, pinto beans, collard greens and fruit
9 a.m.: Pool, snacks and social time
9:15 a.m.: Prayer circle
9:15 a.m.: Puzzles and games
9:30 a.m.: Walking
9:30 a.m.: Knitting and crochet
10:30 a.m.: Chair yoga
11:45 a.m.: Lunch
12:30 p.m.: Skin cancer awareness

Tuesday: Barbecue chicken, baked beans, cole slaw and fruit
9 a.m.: Pool, snacks and social time
9:30 a.m.: Blood pressure checks
10 a.m.: Grocery store
10 a.m.: Building active adults
11 a.m.: Staff meeting
11:45 a.m.: Lunch
12:30 p.m.: Alice Ward (piano and sing-a-long)

Wednesday: Maple glazed ham, potatoes romanoff, scandinavian vegetables and mandarin oranges
9 a.m.: Pool, snacks and social time
9:30 a.m.: Puzzles and games
10 a.m.: Walking with Parks and Recreation
10:30 a.m.: Light and Lively
11:45 a.m.: Lunch
12:30 p.m.: Emergency preparedness with Gary Critzer (Waynesboro EOC)

Thursday: Meatloaf with tomato sauce, chuckwagon corn, broccoli sprouts and fruit
9 a.m.: Pool, snacks and social time
9:30 a.m.: Walking
10 a.m.: Building active adults
11 a.m.: Yard sale clothing setup
11:45 a.m.: Lunch
12:30 p.m.: Crafts with Teresa

Friday: Roast turkey with poultry gravy, sweet potatoes, mixed greens and fruit
Center is closed for staff training; no congregrate meals – HBD only; yard sale setup

Lunch is served at 11:45 a.m. each day. Make reservations by calling 942-1838 by 10 a.m. on the day you plan to attend. All meals are served with milk and bread and provide one-third of the daily nutritional requirement for adults. Meals for the homebound are delivered this month by volunteers from; Fishersville United Methodist Church, Fishersville Ruritans, The Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder Saints, Bethany Lutheran Church, Calvary Baptist Church, Glovier Memorial UMC and St. Marks UMC.
