The Fifth Valley Gospel Show returns to Waynesboro High School at 6 p.m. April 25 and and later at R.E. Lee High School, on July 31. Offering an array of performers into one evening, the concerts are coming at a good time, says promoter Pam Barton, of Blue Ridge Talent.

“If there was ever a time when we need to come together for some laughter and inner peace it is now, in these tough and uncertain economic times,” she said.

The artists’ lineup for April 25, consists of Greater Love Quartet, Mark Bishop and Triumphant Quartet. Rich Bruce returns as the concerts emcee for the fifth time. Bruce is with WTRM Radio in Winchester.

Bishop makes his third return appearance to Waynesboro. He is known for 20 years of performing with the family trio, The Bishops. Upon deciding to journey onward in his career as solo, he continues to write and sing songs for his audiences. Two of his No. 1 songs, “Can I Pray For You” and “I Got Here as Fast as I Could” brought the crowd to its feet at his last performance in Waynesboro.

Bishop’s latest project “The Fields of Love” depicts his version of the story of God’s grace and mercy.

Triumphant Quartet returns for their second consecutive performance following up on last year’s event. The group has been under contract with the Louise Mandrell Theater in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., for several years and are now traveling full-time around the United States and abroad. They also reside in Pigeon Forge.

Triumphant Quartet is credited with numerous awards and recognition and are always regulars on stage at the National Quartet Convention held in Louisville, Ky.

Greater Love Quartet, based in Orange, are regulars in the Valley and have been traveling the East coast. Just recently they released a brand new CD titled “Soul Searching” which was produced in Hopper’s Studio under the direction of Dean Hopper and one of the industry’s top producers, Wayne Haun.
Several of the songs will be performed for the first time at the show and the CD will be available to the fans. Greater Love is booked exclusively by Barton, owner of Blue Ridge Talent.

Barton said the Booth’s requested for Greater Love Quartet provide the opening act for them.

The Booth’s can credit many awards to their name and they keeping adding more. They were awarded Group of The Year in 2007 and 2008.

“You never know what to expect from The Booth Brothers, they are so blessed with talent, humor and faith,” said Barton. “They arrive to the shows and ask ... ‘What shall we do,’ or ‘What would you like?’ I just tell them sing and have fun, the stage is theirs.”

Tickets are now available for both concerts, although Booth Brothers tickets are available from Blue Ridge Talent, which will also be on sale at the April show. Merchants will begin selling July concert tickets beginning in May.

The April Concert tickets are now available at Waynesboro Florist, Staunton Florist, Redfront Supermarket in Harrisonburg or Blue Ridge Talent (924-0226). Reserved seating is available for both concerts. Blue Ridge Talent handles all reserve seating.

Tickets are the same for both concerts: $17 advance, $20 at the door, $25 for reserve seating, $6 under age 12 (outside the RSVP section).
