Waynesboro Citizens for Responsible Spending will host a Waynesboro treasurer candidate’s forum to include all candidates for the position (Stephanie Beverage, Sandra F. Dixon, Terry Kent and Jim Serba) at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Waynesboro Public Library room A. After presentations by each candidate, the floor will be opened to questions submitted by the general public prior to the forum.
The Sherando Lyndhurst Community Club will host a free Children’s Halloween Party starting at 6 p.m. Halloween night Oct. 31at Sherando Community Center on Mount Torrey Road in Sherando. The Shenandoah Valley Chapter of USA Dance will hold its monthly chapter dance at the Dayton Learning Center at 7:15 p.m. tonight with an open meeting for all chapter members. The Stonewall Jackson Area Council Valley District Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts will begin their Scouting for Food project collecting food for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank today by placing bags in local neighborhoods. The scouts ask that residents fill the bags with can foods and other non-perishable foods and place them on doorsteps for pick up Oct 31. This event is completed as part of the scouts’ Good Turn for America service project.

Praise Fest Gospel concert will visit the Lane Auditorium (Albemarle County office building) in memory of Martel “Bubbles” Brooks, a former Charlottesville High School student who died at a charity basketball game in September at Monticello High School. The event at 7:30 p.m. today will feature up to 10 regional and local gospel groups and will be hosted by Chucky Hayes of 92.7 FM’s Total Praise in Morning. The Charlottesville Praise Fest Gospel concert takes place at Lane Auditorium, 401 McIntire Road, on the corner of Preston Avenue and doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale for $15 in advance and $20 at the door. The annual Woman’s Club Scholarship Ball will be held on Nov. 7 at the Elks Lodge from 8 p.m. to midnight. Tickets are $50 a couple and $25 for singles. The Sentemental Journey (a 16 piece orchestra) will provide the music. The club gives a $6,000 scholarship over a four-year period to a local senior from either Waynesboro, Stuarts Draft, or Wilson Memorial.
Kay Pfaltz, of Nellysford, and author of “Lauren’s Story,” will hold a book signing from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 14 at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds Pet Dog-Fest.
