The Waynesboro Players is hosting auditions for another play by local author and playwright Duane Hahn, “Tuesday Mourning” on Aug. 20 at 7 p.m. and Aug. 22 at 2 p.m. at the Waynesboro Players Warehouse, 722 E. Main St. The cast members needed include six men, ages 18-30; one woman, age 30-50; three female chorus members, ages 18-30; three male chorus members, ages 18-30. The cast has to sing and act, and the chorus members also have to dance jitterbug style. For more information, call Duane Hahn at 949-5376.
The descendants of William T. and Rachael A. Gutshall will hold their annual reunion Sunday at Olivet Presbyterian Church, 1019 Richmond Rd., Staunton. Everyone bring a picnic lunch which will be served at 12:30 p.m. All friends and relatives welcome. For more information, call 885-1716.
The Staunton Boys & Girls Club country ham sandwich fundraiser is currently taking orders. Sandwiches are $3 and all orders/money must be turned in by July 31. Boys & Girls Club of Staunton and the Staunton Recreation & Parks Department have teamed together to host a Pool Party Fundraiser on Saturday from 7-10 p.m. at Gypsy Hill Park Pool; a tribute to Michael Jackson; The highlights of the evening will be swimming, a dance competition, a look-a-like competition and singing competition; Staunton Department of Recreation’s “X-treme Screen” will be showing Michael Jackson videos and clips throughout the evening. Admission $5 per person, Open to fans of all ages; funds raised will be used to benefit children in the Staunton Boys and Girls Club Summer Program. The Pendleton Pals will meet Sunday during the Puffenbarger Reunion at Oakdale Park, Bridgewater, beginning at noon. The Pals, amateur geneaologists, research their families from Sugar Grove, Pentdelton County, W.Va., along with neighboring Highland County families. The Waynesboro Fire Department has tentatively set the date for its fundraising auction in September but is still in need of items to be donated for that auction. No white goods please. Items may be dropped off at the fire station on Broad Street or call 942-6730 for pick up of large items.

Valley Women’s Connection of Greater Staunton Area will hold its “Fun in the Sun!” luncheon Aug. 12 from 11:30 a.m-1 p.m., at Mrs. Rowe’s Country Buffet, Mount Crawford. Faye Davis from Select Tours in Churchville will talk about the benefits of cruise vacations and will share some of her Hawaiian and Caribbean islands cruise memories. Guest speaker Jo Knipe from Odenton, Md., a conference and women’s retreat speaker will talk about how she discovered reality in a changing world. Cost of lunch and program is $14 inclusive. Play On! will be holding open auditions for their fall production of “The Boy Friend,” a musical comedy set in the Roaring Twenties. Director Marcello Rollando needs seven men and eight women ranging from their late teens to 60s in age. Production dates are Thursdays through Sundays Oct. 29 through Nov. 15. Auditions will take place Aug. 9 and 10 at 7 p.m. at The Theatre at Ix, 983 Second St. SE, Charlottesville. Attend either session.
