Basic United Methodist Church, 489 N. Winchester Ave., corner of Delphine and Fifth Street, Waynesboro, the Rev. Don Gibson — This week’s schedule is as follows:

Sunday: 9:45 a.m. – church school; 11 a.m. – morning worship; 6 p.m. – Hispanic worship service; and 6 p.m. – UM Youth Fellowship.

This Sunday’s sermon will be “That You May Know,” taken from the Bible text Matthew 9:1-13.

Bethany Lutheran Church, 100 Maple Ave., Waynesboro, Pastor Timothy Bohlmann — Sunday school for all ages begins at 9:45 a.m., allowing children and adults to participate together in an opening and then break into groups based on age for further Bible study and activities. Traditional worship is at 8:30 a.m. and contemporary worship is at 11 a.m. Nursery services will be available all morning.

Other ministry areas include Christ Care Small Group ministry, music ministry, with handbells and choir, and a senior ministry, which meets each Wednesday at 10 a.m. for Bible study. The church also offers a variety of activities for middle school and high school youth.

Beverly Manor Baptist Church – The morning service begins at 11 a.m. with Pastor James H. McIntosh. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. The evening service begins at 3 p.m., with the Pastor Conchita Holtz, of Community United Methodist Church, presiding.

The church’s annual revival service will take place June 23-27, with Dr. Gerald Chapman, of Zion Baptist Church in Ambler, Pa., serving as the evangelist for the week.

Born Again Pentecostal Church, 172 Little Church Lane, Madison – A revival will be held at the church, with Evangelist Troy Shifflett, from Dibble, Okla.

Services will be June 23-29, Monday through Saturday, at 7:30 p.m. nightly, and Sunday morning at 10 a.m.

There will be a homecoming meal after the morning service.

 

Calvary Baptist Church, 68 Benz Road, Waynesboro, Pastor W.T. Cole – Sunday school begins at 9:45 a.m. The morning worship service begins at 11 a.m., with an evening service beginning at 6 p.m., to be led by Associate Pastor Joey Locklear.

Nursery services are available during all services. Children’s church will be held during the 11 a.m. morning service. Children’s programs are also held during Sunday and Wednesday evening services.

A Wednesday Bible study and prayer meeting will begin at 7 p.m., led by Brian Read.

A hot dog and ham biscuit bake sale will be held at the Wal-Mart in Waynesboro on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. All funds will go to the church’s building fund.

Central Baptist Church, 261 Bookerdale Rd., Waynesboro, the Rev. Josh Shiflett – Sunday school will be held at 10 a.m. The church will hold worship services at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Pastor Vernon R. Berry will deliver the message, “Timothy, A Man of God,” from the Bible text 1 Timothy 6:11

This Sunday, the worship service will focus on Father’s Day with preaching and teaching from the Bible. The congregation will also sing Father’s Day songs. Fathers will be given special gifts, including awards for fathers, coffee mugs and booklets entitled, “The Father’s Role,” written by Dr. Curtis Hutson.

A Wednesday evening worship service will begin at 7 p.m.

Central Baptist Church is an old-fashioned, independent church that uses only the King James version of the Bible.

First Presbyterian Church, 100 East Frederick St., Staunton, the Rev. Dr. Richard S. Dietrich – Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m., with a worship service at 11 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Richard S. Dietrich will deliver the sermon “Debts and Debtors,” based on the Bible text Matthew 9:35-10:23.

Vacation Bible School will take place June 22-26, from 5:45-8 p.m. Bible study will resume in the fall.

First Presbyterian Church, 11th Street and Wayne Avenue, Waynesboro, the Rev. Glen Holman — A service will begin at 8:30 a.m., with communion served. Praise and worship is at 9:30 a.m. and traditional worship is at 11 a.m. The Rev. Glen Holman will deliver the message, “Help for Fathers,” with Jonah 1:3-10 serving as the text.

The summer program begins, with the children all beginning the worship service with their parents and then being dismissed for their own worship sessions.

On Thursday at 7 a.m., the men’s Bible study group will meet in the church fellowship hall to discuss the Book of Romans. Women’s Bible study is taking a break for the summer and will return in the fall. The food bank opens at 9 a.m. this week.

Fishersville Baptist Church, 1518 Jefferson Highway, Fishersville, Pastor John Hamric – Summer hours will be in effect through August 31.

Sunday school begins at 9 a.m., for all ages. Sunday services will be held at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. The Coachmen Quartet will be in concert on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. The concert will receive a love offering.

Adult Bible study and Set Apart Youth will take place on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. Choir rehearsal begins at 7:30 p.m.

All senior citizens are invited to join the congregation for Senior Celebrations on June 29 at 10:30 a.m.

The Y.E.S.! Choir and the Stuarts Draft Baptist Choir will present “Bound for Glory” on June 22 at 7 p.m. at Stuarts Draft Baptist Church and on June 29 at 10:30 a.m. at Fishersville Baptist Church.

Children who have completed the first through the sixth grades are invited to join the congregation for Son World Vacation Bible School Sunday through Friday at 6 p.m. each night. Mt. Marine Baptist Church, Kiddsville – The church has cancelled their Choir Day scheduled for June 21, at 4 p.m. It will be held at a later date.

 

Mt. Salem Baptist Church, 1015 Stuart St., Staunton – The last night of the church’s Youth Revival will be held tonight at 7 p.m., with Minister Rashaad D.L. Cartwright and the Beverly Manor Youth.

The church will hold weekly dedication services June 22-27. The schedule is as follows:

Sunday: Dr. Floyd A. Miles will lead the 10 a.m. service. Elder Warner L. Hunter, Sr., of Covington, will lead the 4 p.m. service.

Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, New Hope – Former Members’ Day will be observed on June 25 at the church, which is located in New Hope. Beginning at 1 p.m., The Gospel Inspirations and other talented singers will present the program of sacred music. Dinner will be served immediately following the program. All are welcome. Mt. Woodland Baptist Church, Greenfield, Pastor Loretta W. Wyant – The third anniversary for Pastor Loretta W. Wyant will be celebrated on June 28 at 3 p.m. The guest minister will be the Rev. Cary Annette Jordan Claiborne form the Pleasant Oak Baptist Church in Victoria. Music will be provided by the Blackstone Community Chorus. Everyone is invited to attend.

 

Oak Grove Baptist Church, 223 Oak Grove Church Road, Waynesboro, Pastor T.E. Payne, Sr. – Happy Father’s Day! Oak Grove Restoration Ministries will honor fathers on Father’s Day this Sunday during the morning worship service, which begins at 10:50 a.m. Please come join the congregation in celebrating earthly fathers and the heavenly Father.

Second Presbyterian Church, 133 N. Delphine Ave., Waynesboro, The Rev. Dr. John L. McDonald — Father’s Day is this Sunday.

Sunday school classes meet from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. This Sunday, the pre-school and Kids’ Journeys in Faith class will study “The Great Commission.” The Thoughtful Sunday school class will study faith issues.

The worship service will be from 11 a.m. to noon. For the next ten weeks, the Rev. Dr. John L. McDonald will deliver sermons on “The Ten Commandments.” This Sunday’s sermon will be taken from the Bible text Exodus 20:12.

On Monday, Disciple’s Kitchen will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., with All Saint’s Orthodox serving. On Tuesday, Disciples’ Kitchen will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., with St. John’s Episcopal Church serving. A revitalization meeting will begin at 2 p.m. On Wednesday, the food bank will be open from 10 a.m. to noon. The adult choir will not meet again until Sept. 3. On Thursday, Disciples’ Kitchen will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., with Main Street Methodist Church serving.

Vacation Bible School will take place June 22-27. On Friday, the church will host a picnic. From Friday through Wednesday, the Summerlee Work Project in West Virginia is scheduled.

On the third Wednesday of each month, the food pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to noon. On the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, Mary Baker Quilters will meet from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, Disciples’ Kitchen is held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Shiloh Baptist Church, 234 Shiloh Ave., Waynesboro – The special events ministry will sponsor a program called “The Plan for Salvation” (Women and Men in Color). Southside Church of God, 35 First Street, Staunton, Pastor Phillip Morgan – Sunday school will begin at 9:45 a.m. The morning worship service is at 10:45 a.m. and the evening service begins at 6 p.m.

Vacation Bible School will be June 22-26 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The theme will be “The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything.” Activities will include music, crafts, snacks and lots of fun.

Springdale Mennonite Church, 170 Hall School Road, Waynesboro – The church invites the children of the community to Summer Bible School, to be held Sunday to Thursday this week. A light supper will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by an evening of “Power Lab” Bible School beginning at 6:15 p.m. Children in preschool through the fifth grade are welcome to attend. St. James Baptist Church, 1094 Albemarle Ave., Waynesboro, Pastor A.T. Crawley – Sunday school is held each Sunday, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Children’s church starts at 10 a.m., beginning with breakfast and followed by learning activities.

Regular worship is at 11 a.m. Dinner will be served after the morning service.

The church will have their monthly women’s fellowship meeting on Thursday, at 6 p.m. The speaker for the month will be the church’s Deaconess Audrey Crawley. The congregation knows visitors will be richly blessed with what the Lord has to say. Please come out and join them.

Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church, 30 Tinkling Spring Drive, Fishersville – Sunday school for all ages begins at 9:30 a.m. Worship is at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Commissioning of those participating in the various mission trips will take place at the 11 a.m. service.

Nursery care is provided for both services and Sunday school. The church is handicapped accessible.

Beginning Sunday, the 8:30 a.m. service will be held in the pavilion, weather permitting.

Wayne Hills United Methodist Church – The congregation invites all children to take off on the ride of a lifetime at their summer Vacation Bible School, “Lift Off – Soaring to New Heights with God!” The action begins on July 6 and ends on July 9. From 6:30-8:30 p.m. each evening, a high-flying adventure will provide children a sky view of God’s power and Jesus’ love at the year’s “Lift Off – Soaring to New Heights with God” Vacation Bible School. Your sky scouts will discover four flight plans that will help them soar to new heights with God: I will follow, I will trust, I will listen and I will serve.

Pre-registration will be held at the church on July 5 from 1-3 p.m. Children may also register during Sunday school on July 6. The church is located at 932 Fir Street.

 

Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, 364 Bridge Ave., Waynesboro, Pastor Edward L. Carl – The church continues its summer schedule with worship at 9:30 a.m., which continues through July and August.

This Sunday, Pastor Ed Carl will continue the series “The Church You Always Longed For,” with the fourth sermon in the series, “Empowering Each Individual.” The sermon will be based on the Bible text Acts 18:24-28. A “Talk-On” session will follow allowing individuals to raise questions or to make comments regarding the theme for the day or the sermon.

Waynesboro Free Methodist Church, corner of Ivy Street and Hopeman Parkway, Pastor David Kurtz — Waynesboro Free Methodist Church invites you to fellowship this Sunday morning.

It’s Father’s Day! Fathers, bring your family to church!

Sunday school classes, for all ages, begin at 9:30 a.m. The worship service begins at 10:30 a.m. with contemporary worship music, hymns and a dynamic message by Pastor David Kurtz.

A staffed nursery for babies and a Mothers’ Room are available for small children where mothers can see and hear the service.

Junior church, “Discovery Road,” is available for children from 4 years old through the fifth grade.

This evening, from 6:30-8:45 p.m., will be the last Vacation Bible School and Power Lab class. All children are welcome.

The last day of Vacation Bible School, “Amplify Christ,” will take place tonight, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The congregation will explore lessons from the life of Paul in intergenerational groups for ages pre-k through 12th grade. Waynesboro Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1700 Lyndhurst Road, Waynesboro, Pastor Will Johns — This Saturday, Sabbath school is at 9:30 a.m., with Bible study classes geared specifically for children from birth through age 18. There are also several adult classes available, which are currently studying the topic of “The Wonder of Jesus.”

The main worship service is at 10:50 a.m. and includes time for singing, prayer and a Bible message from the pastor. All are welcome.

Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1904 Mt. Vernon St., Waynesboro, Dr. Jonathan Lovelady – The Red Door contemporary service will be held at 9:30 a.m. in the chapel. A traditional blended service will begin at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary. Classes for children and adults are held at 9:45 a.m. and 11 a.m. to accommodate persons attending both worship services.

This Sunday’s message will be “Frightening Forming Forgetful Fathers,” based on the Bible text Isaiah 64:4-9.

The Middle School Youth (CIA) will meet for fellowship on Sunday evening at 6 p.m. The men’s luncheon will be at Summit Square on Monday at noon.

The softball team will be playing this week on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at North Park.
