Local celeb lends hand to fundraiser

The Waynesboro Players will present Duane Hahn’s theater production “Tuesday Mourning” at Kate Collins Middle School auditorium on Ivy Street in Waynesboro.

The cast and crew of this year’s season opener “Tuesday Morning” were not headed to a theater or playhouse, but to the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford.

From Thursday through Sunday, members of ShenanArts will be performing the Molly Newsman and Barbara Damashek production of “Quilters,” based on the book, The Quilters: Women and Domestic Art, an oral history by Patricia Cooper and Norma Bradley Allen.

To develop their roles for ShenanArts’ upcoming musical, “Oliver!,” the musical’s young actors used the power of their imaginations to put themselves in a world much different than their own.

What do you get when you take a seasoned director and area celebrity, some of the area’s best theater talent, a musical director visiting from Texas, a script by Stephen Sondheim and just three weeks of preparation?
You get “Company,” opening this Friday and running through Monday at the Kate Collins Middle School auditorium.
